Verified 30 October 2026How do I apply for a Kenya eTA?
You apply for a Kenya eTA online at the official portal, etakenya.go.ke, with your passport, a photo, contact details, travel itinerary and accommodation confirmation, then pay the fee by card. Processing typically takes three working days but can take longer. The eTA is valid for travel within 90 days of issue.
TL;DR
- Apply only on the official portal, etakenya.go.ke.
- Have every document ready before you start the form.
- Allow at least three working days for processing, more to be safe.

- your passport, valid for six months after your arrival date, with a blank page;
- a selfie or passport-type photo (see what makes a photo pass);
- your email address and phone number;
- your arrival and departure flights or travel plans;
- your accommodation confirmation, or your host's details;
- any document for your purpose of travel, such as an invitation letter;
- a card to pay with.

- Keep the confirmation email with your reference number.
After you submit
Processing typically takes three working days, but can take longer, so apply well before you travel. Once issued, the eTA is valid for travel within 90 days. Officers decide how long you can stay when you arrive. If your application is refused, the gaps that get applications refused explain what to check before you try again.
To prepare every answer before you open the official form, build your checklist.
